At William Charles, Inc. we strive to meet our clients every dream and desire when designing their kitchen, which we affectionately refer to as, “the heart of the home.”  These two kitchens in particular are the inspirations of some of our newly completed projects, the two vary greatly not only in style,  but as well in function.

Television and movie producer Jeff Franklin called on Richard Landry to substantially re-conceive an unfinished house in Beverly Hills. The architect found inspiration in Andalusian design. He carved the kitchen out of the former family room. Copper, brass and steel were used for the pot rack and the range and pizza oven hoods.

Architect Oscar Shamamian, of Ferguson & Shamamian, collaborated with New York-based interior designer Victoria Hagan on a couple’s summer house overlooking the water on Nantucket. “It was important to capture the spirit of Nantucket in an understated way,” says Hagan. The kitchen, where the family takes most meals, “has the charm of an older house but with a modern emphasis on the relationship to the outside.”

The library in this postmodern Toronto house was designed to reflect a certain bravura and mood.  The room’s finely carved capitals are complemented by a great number of noteworthy antiques, among them a circa 1790 satinwood worktable.

This library double as a dining room in a chic Park Avenue New York townhome.

Designers turned this double-height entrance hall of a Spanish Colonial Revival house in Beverly Hills into an entrance library, filling it with pots and other artifacts as well as books devoted to the visual arts. “The library sets the mood,” explains designer. “It’s a distillation of everything that goes on in the house.”

Turn your master bath in to a stunning spa like retreat with open windows, stunning views and a zen atmosphere, the master bathroom from HGTV Dream Home 2010 is the perfect place to end a long day.

More and more, kitchens are incorporating dining rooms and sitting rooms into a unified space. Consequently, kitchen cabinets are looking more like fine furniture, and counters and islands are becoming dining tables. Banquette seating can offer comfortable seating for people who congregate in the kitchen for more than food.

Built-In Freezer
Appliances might be more intelligent, efficient, and feature-packed than ever, but that doesn’t mean they’re grabbing the spotlight in today’s kitchen. On the contrary, cabinet manufacturers have made it easy to hide dishwashers, trash compactors, and icemakers behind panels that match adjacent cabinet doors. They’re proving it’s even possible to hide the kitchen’s age-old sore thumb: the refrigerator-freezer. Not only can it be encased in cabinet-matching wood, but it’s now more likely to be built in.
